This is a poetic film about the lot and creative art of an outstanding Armenian poet Sayat-Nova (XVII century). The director depicts the childhood, adolescence, love, death, and immortality of the singer through symbols and allegories.
The first author’s cut of the film was screened only in Armenia. It was only after Sergey Yutkevich’s editing that the film was allowed to have distribution throughout the Soviet Union.
